Adding GOTR to Your School...

Girls on the Run selects program sites in November and June of each year.  If Girls on the Run is not already at your school, we can help you bring GOTR your way.  See below to learn what we need from a school or organization in order for it to be approved as a host site.

Checklist to Host the Program:
If you would like to help bring GOTR to your school or organization in the Northeast Florida area, here is what we will need from you:

*  Provide a Site Coordinator -- a main contact person for GOTR to coordinate with at this site throughout the season

*  Provide a safe, dedicated space for running two days per week for 1.5 hours.  THIS IS ESSENTIAL.  This does not have to be a track...a bus loop or field is fine, as long as it is flat, safe and mowed short.  This should be a dedicated GOTR space...not shared with other teams.

*  Provide a rain site that is indoors, and preferably a gym, reserved for GOTR and not in conflict with other programs.

*  Distribute registration forms to all 3rd-6th grade girls at your school.  Teams consist of 8-15 girls.  Some sites may be approved for multiple teams.

*  Provide two volunteer coaching candidates for your site.  Teachers and parents who are healthy-minded make great coaches!!  Each coach will be required to attend one day of GOTR training in January or August, prior to the start of the spring or fall season.  Coaches must be available for all lessons, two afternoons per week, for the 12 week season.  GOTR will assist you in identifying coaches when necessary.

*  Verify and gain support from the school Principal and staff...sites where the Principal and teachers are all familiar with GOTR and supportive of it and the girls, are MUCH more successful!!

If you are interested in bringing GOTR to a new school in the Northeast Florida area, please contact us at GirlsOnTheRunNEFL@comcast.net for a site application.
